Printing to Default Printer Causes Reboot

by on September 19, 2007

Q: My computer restarts every time I click “OK” to print. I have a Dell Precision 370, using Windows XP. This started after I was on my remote site and was using another printer as default. My printers are networked and the computer only restarts when I use my default printer.

A: If your PC is only restarting when you are printing to your Default printer, the best course of action would be to reinstall the printer. Make sure that you have the proper drivers for your printer available before you start. Click on Start > Settings > Control Panel > Printers and then delete your default printer. Then proceed to re-install the printer by double-clicking the Add Printer icon and following the wizard.
