iTunes Music Over Lap/Crossfade by matt on October 9, 2007

Q: When running the latest version of Apple iTunes music player in shuffle mode the songs seem to over lap by 3 to 6 sections. I would like to stop this from happening but I am not sure if it is a problem with my computer or if it is a setting in the iTunes software. Can you please help?

A: The overlap you are talking about is the crossfade playback option in iTunes. You can change this by going to the Playback menu. On a Mac select iTunes -> Preferences and then select the Playback button/menu. On Windows select File -> Preferences and then select the Playback button/menu.

The menu will look like the little image below; you can click on it to see a larger image. You will just want to uncheck the Crossfade Playback option. For those that like the option you can change how long songs fade together.
