Why is Microsoft Word 2007 showing paragraph signs and dots between words?

Q: I have Word 2007 running on Windows Vista and it has suddenly started putting paragraph signs and dots between words. How do I stop this?

    In Word 2007, go to the “Home” tab and then look in the “Paragraph” section. Find and click on the ΒΆ symbol.

    If that idea fails, click on the circular “Office Button”, which is located in the upper-left corner. Then click on “Word Options”, go to the “Display” section, and make sure that all checkboxes are empty in the “Always show these formatting marks on the screen” subsection.

    Do either of these ideas help?
