How do I get sound when connecting my laptop to my TV?

Q: I’m unable to get any sound through the TV speakers when trying to connect my HP Pavillion dv9000 laptop to my Sony Bravia 40w3000 LCD TV using an HDMI cable. Great picture but only get audio from the laptop. Any suggestion to get sound through the TV speakers?
