How do I fix Windows XP after a registry cleaner broke it?
by Guest Geek on November 24, 2008Q: I’m using Windows XP Professional and someone used a registry cleaner and deleted some valuable XP files. When I go to user accounts or attempt to click on search I get a blank screen. When I click on help and support I get nothing. I do not have another copy of Windows XP to reinstall from.

Since you don’t have a disc that will allow you to reinstall Windows XP, your options are limited. You’ll need to either manually repair the Windows Registry (recommended for experts only) or hope that a registry repair program can fix the damage. I recommend that you consider CCleaner, which can be downloaded from: http://www.ccleaner.com/
PS: Some companies, such as Dell, will send a Windows XP reinstallation disk to you upon request.
