Why did my laptop suddenly stop connecting to the Internet?

Q: My daughter’s laptop has suddenly stopped connecting to the Internet . It was working yesterday morning, but now I can’t get it to connect. We use Internet Explorer, and I am getting the usual canned response as to why the connection is not happening (site trouble, or misspelled site address).

    Is your daughter using wireless, cable, DSL, or dial-up to connect her laptop to the internet? Thanks!
