What exactly can I do to upgrade my mothers computer?

by on January 6, 2009

Q: I am looking to see if its possible to upgrade my mothers computer since its quite out of date and is very slow loading programs, internet, or pretty much anything you do. I’m trying to help her out any way I can by upgrading what is needed to have her computer run more optimally. Specifically run things smoother (not as choppy when loading programs) and faster.

This is the information I have, that I got from the system information on the computer itself. I apologize if it is to much, or too little. I’m not quite sure what is needed, what is of importance, or pretty much what any of it means.

It is a Sony Vaio – Model PCV-RX360D,
Intel(R) 82815 Graphics Controller,
Windows XP Home Edition Service pack 3,
System type: x86 family 6 model 8 stepping 6 GenuineIntel 868MHZ,
Hardware Abstraction layer: Version=”5.1.2600.5512,
BIOS Version/Date: Award Software, Inc. ACPI BIOS Revision 1002, 12/28/2000,
SIN BIOS Version 2.3.

Hopefully that is sufficient enough information. ANY help would be appreciated.

Thank you
