Is there a laptop under $1000 that has both Windows XP and Vista already installed?

Dell will provide you the option of transitioning from XP to Vista at a later date. You might want to talk to them directly to see if they can accommodate your request.

99.9% of new computers are sold with only one operating system installed. If I may ask, why do you need to run both Windows Vista and Windows XP?
As you may have read here at AskAGeek.com, I used to advise people to use Windows XP instead of Windows Windows Vista. But surprisingly, Windows Vista has improved substantially since it’s original release — mostly due to Service Pack 1 for Windows Vista. Indeed, I even feel that Windows Vista is now superior to Windows XP, in most cases.
Unless you know of some huge incompatibility with your current software and/or peripherals, I advise you to purchase a computer which runs Windows Vista.
I look forward to receiving your reply to my comments! 😉

If I remember correctly, transitioning from Windows XP to Windows Vista using Mark’s method will invalidate your Windows XP license. So your Windows XP will no longer be legal, and you will have to use Windows Vista only.

I could be wrong about Mark’s method, so it is definitely worth calling Dell to confirm.
