Is there anyway to recover deleted email from a Yahoo email account?
by Guest Geek on February 22, 2009Q: I have 2 yahoo email accounts and all the messages got deleted. Is there any way to recover the deleted sent and received messages? Would they be somewhere on my computer hard drive?

Do you use an internet browser (e.g. Internet Explorer) to access your emails, or do you use an email program (e.g. Outlook Express) instead? Also, how did the messages get deleted?
Your answers will help me to better assist you. Thanks!

I used Internet Explorer to access my Yahoo email accounts. “I” deleted the messages which sent them to the trash folder, then I deleted them from the trash folder.

Hi Brenda,
Unfortunately, according to http://help.yahoo.com/l/us/yahoo/mail/original/manage/basics-38.html you cannot recover your emails once they have been deleted from the Trash.
To prevent this from happening in the future: If you use a free service like Google’s Gmail, you can access your emails using an email program like Outlook Express or Windows Live Mail. Many such programs allow you to create backups of your emails from time-to-time. If your emails are ever lost, you can easily recover messages from your newest update.
How may I be of further assistance?

Hi Brenda,
In my most recent reply, I used the term “newest update”. That should read “most recent backup”. My apologies for any confusion…
