My research indicates that you are getting the 1234 error because of a problem in your computer with something called the Registry. There are some complex solutions like http://support.microsoft.com/kb/894510 available on the internet, but I’d like you to try an easy solution first.
Download and install a free program called CCleaner http://www.ccleaner.com/ onto your computer. In CCleaner, run the Registry tool. You may also run the Cleaner tool if you wish. Restart your computer, re-download the Opera installer, and try again to install Opera.
Does this help?
PS: Opera and Firefox are both excellent browsers — much better than Internet Explorer. Opera even has a built-in email client!
