  1.

Hello… Backup your music, documents, and other important files to devices such as recordable CD/DVD (do not use re-recordable discs), USB flash drive, or external hard drive.

The following instructions are for Microsoft Windows-based computers only:

(optional) Especially if you plan to give/sell your computer to someone else, use GWSCAN http://support.gateway.com/support/drivers/search.asp?param=gwscan&st=kw to “write zeros” to your computer’s hard drive. This will overwrite all of the existing data on your computer’s hard drive — something that most recovery CDs cannot do.

Then, put the first recovery CD into your computer and follow all instructions given by the recovery program. Some computers come with only one recovery CD, while others use multiple recovery CDs.

PS: If you want to reinstall Microsoft Windows without also reinstalling all of the junk software that comes with computers these days, contact your computer’s manufacturer and request a Windows installation disc.

    Does this help?
