How come my HP all in one scanner will only scan to images and not to documents?

by on March 26, 2009

Q: I have a HP L7590 all in one scanner. It is attached to a Dell running Microsoft Windows XP professional, version 5.1.2600, service pak 3 build 2600, model 2300.

When I scan, I have to scan everything as a picture. The document scan errors out and HP is not able to resolve the problem. When the files I scan get to the other computers, the files are to large to open. When I scan in pictures, I don’t have all of my options to change settings. It was suggested I minimize resolution on the scanner to 100 dpi and save it in .jpeg format. My question is where do I do this? When I try to change the settings in the HP solution center, the option isn’t there, and also, when I do change the setting, it won’t stay. Do you have any ideas?

  1.

“The document scan errors out and HP is not able to resolve the problem. ”

I’m sorry, but if HP can’t take care of their own equipment, and have it worked as advertised I’d seriously consider taking my business elsewhere.
