Is there any way to use an external hard drive to create a boot disk?
by Cruncha on March 26, 2009Q: Is there any way to use an external hard drive to create a boot disk so I can wipe my computer and just use the external hard drive to get windows back? I’ve got windows xp and several trojans. Any help would be gratefully appreciated.

no i bought the laptop off a relative with it already on there. thats one of the reasons it’s so clogged, hasn’t been cleared out in years. i could probably get it though, will i need it?

Yeah, you’re not going to be able to do a fresh install of windows without it. I’d suggest just dumping all your important files to your external drive, unplugging the external drive and then just doing a fresh install from the windows xp cd.
