Is it safe to uninstall Norton now that I am using Webroot Spy Sweeper?
by mariaah on March 27, 2009Q: I had Norton antivirus installed on my computer when I bought it. I recently just bought Webroot Spy Sweeper because Norton’s subscription expired. Can I delete Norton now then?
Unfortunatly, these two programs do two different things.
The webroot software you purchased will take care of spyware/malware, however you’re still going to need an anti-virus program to take care of viruses.
Webroot has an anti-virus program you can use if you like that company. Or you can try AVG or Avast, both of which have free offerings:

As a rule of thumb, you only ever want to have one ‘Anti-Virus’ program installed on your PC at a time. Uninstall Norton and then install your next anti-virus program.
