Can I print from my laptop over my wireless network to the printer connected to my desktop?
by tallman0427 on June 28, 2009Q: Can I use a printer attached to the home PC from a laptop connected via wireless router? The home PC is hardwired to the wireless router.

Yes you can, it’s called “Printer Sharing”. I can post you some links to directions if you’d like. I’ll just need to know what operating system (Vista/XP/etc) is running on each of the computers.

I was able to get this to work but struggled with the “path” to the printer for a little while. The “Add a Printer” example shows a path of \\server\printer. I eventually just entered the IP address of the Home PC and then the printer options showed up. I guess a true Geek would have known that.
