How do a make sure the file size of a scanned file is small enough so I can email it?
by Guest Geek on August 1, 2009Q: How do I go about scanning a document, picture, map or photo to email? My computer has Vista home premium, the printer/scanner is HP Officejet J4580 all in one. When I scan a brochure for example by following the directions in HP solution centre, it saves as a jpeg file about 870KB in size. However when I scan a sketch, the file is an enormous 2MB. This is the problem as file too big to email.

To decrease the size of your file you will want to change the DPI (Dots Per Inch) setting to something between 75 and 150. I am not sure exactly what the software you are using looks like but it should be a setting right the scan page.
