What file formats will the Avol ADP2500XM let me play via the USB port?

by on August 22, 2009

Q: I have a DVD player from avol Model #ADP2500XM. It has a USB port that allows for some movies to play on it. As far as I can tell it only lets me play a few of my collection. They all look to be AVI files but it wont play all the AVI files. Is there a specific format that will work best?

I suggest taking a look at your manual if you still have it as I’m unable to find a copy of it on-line. It will probably detail what types of video encoding the player can handle.

A video file with an avi extension can be encoded in a number of ways. You can use a program like GSpot ( http://www.headbands.com/gspot/v26x/index.htm ) to see what format a specific video file is using.

I suggest using this program to take a look at some of the video files that work, and some of them that don’t. You’ll probably be able to to quickly notice a difference. Once you know this, you can convert the video files that don’t work into an acceptable format. ( http://lifehacker.com/316478/top-10-free-video-rippers-encoders-and-converters )
