How come I cannot reinstall Dawn of War Soulstorm?
by Guest Geek on August 25, 2009Q: I have an Acer TravelMate5530 laptop with an AMD Athlon x2 Dual Core QL-64 2.1 GHZ and 2 GB RAM that I am trying to reinstall Dawn of War Soulstorm onto. I had the game on there originally with the update patches to play online. However, with the patches I couldn’t play it on a LAN. I uninstalled and then reinstalled Dawn of War Soulstorm and now I’m receiving error messages. The first one said something about Redundancy, I repaired my registry and now I’m receiving an i/o error message. How can I fix this?

We’ll need to know the exact error message you’re receiving, the operating system you’re using (XP/Vista/etc), and what you’re click on that makes the errors pop up. Thanks.

Component: Default Component
File: E:/data2.cab
Error: The request could not be performed because of an I/O device error.
Im running Windows Vista and this error occurs after i click install and enter the CD key, it happens as its installing about a 1/4 of the way thru.

Sounds like your DVD drive is having a problem reading the install disk.
Try cleaning the disk: http://www.wisegeek.com/how-do-i-clean-a-cd-or-dvd.htm
