How come my DVD drive won’t read any disks?
by Guest Geek on October 9, 2009Q: My DVD suddenly stop working. It will not read anything. e.g when I insert a any Disc it will not appear on the DVD+RW Drive on my computer it just show the drive. CD or DVD please help.

The drive could be dirty. I’d suggest picked up a CD/DVD drive lens cleaner from your local electronics store. It looks like a DVD, there is just a small brush on the bottom of the disk.
Other things to try:
Make sure the data and power cables that connect to the dvd drive aren’t lose
Make sure the DVDs you’re trying to use aren’t scratched up
If none of this works the drive could just be dead. Contact the manufacturer for a replacement if under warranty or pick up a new one.
