How come I get an error saying Administrator has prohibited access to USB/1394 mass storage devices?

Q: I have an Acer Power computer with Acer empowering technology framework running Windows XP Pro. When I start the computer up I get a message that says “Administrator has prohibited access to USB/1394 mass storage devices”. How do I fix this?

    I’ll need some more detail. Was this pc issued to you from work? Did you buy it used? When did you start getting the error? Are you able to login to this pc with an administrator account?

    Uninstall Acer LanScope and see if the problem is solved.

    Thanks Mark that seems to have worked. I had taken out part of the Acer but not that part. Thanks again
