Is there anyway for me to take over an abandoned website?

Q: I’ve discovered a website that appears to have been abandoned since 2003. However, the domain name is active until 2015. I have tried contacting the owner but I received no reply. Is there any way for me to commandeer, take over, the site? I would use my own domain name.

    If you are talking about getting control of the domain, which I don’t think you are, you would have to get the person to transfer it to you.

    If you are talking about the website content you would also need to get in touch with the person to get access to their account on the web server so that you can transfer the software and data.

      Thanks Matt. So far I’ve been unable to reach the owner of record. Its a great site, everything I wanted for my own. Most likely I will just copy its format.
