Is it free to downgrade from Windows Vista to Windows XP?
by mazatov on December 4, 2009Q: I have a Sony VAIO vgn-ns240e laptop with Windows Vista Home Premium Edition. Is it possible to downgrade it to Windows XP and is it free or not? I don’t have a Windows XP installation disc or key.

You won’t be able to downgrade from XP to Vista for free. If you really don’t want to use Vista for whatever reason I’d suggest an upgrade to Windows 7 instead.

Upgrade to Windows 7 also won’t be free right ? I’ll probably have to buy Windows 7 which costs a lot…

If you want a different version of Windows other than Vista, whether that be XP or 7, you’ll need to pay Microsoft for it.
Is there a specific reason you don’t want to use Vista?
