What is a reasonably priced cable modem/router?

Are you sure you need to buy a cable modem? Many Internet Service Providers provide a cable modem and don’t charge a fee for the modem(ex: Comcast).
If it won’t cost you anything just use the cable company’s cable modem, in addition to being free they will also replace it if there is a problem.
For routers, the Linksys WRT54GL is an old favorite, and it’s great with the Tomato firmware running on it. http://www.polarcloud.com/tomato
