How come I am having problems watching video on websites like ABC.com?
by cweiler on December 17, 2009Q: I am having trouble using Move Media Player on websites such as ABC & CWTV – no video loads and it is just a blank space on the screen. I tried uninstalling and reinstalling, updated my Flash and Java, turned off my firewall/security and it is still not working. I finally get an error message from abc.com: “A connection problem has occurred. This may be caused by a network configuration problem on your computer. Please check your settings and try again.
Error Code:101”
My iTunes also will not connect to the iTunes store or do anything that requires a network connection, & also gives me an error message about not being connected to the internet.
My computer recently had a virus (The Antivirus System PRO virus) and it was after going through all the steps to get rid of that issue that these new issues started.
I am using Windows XP on a 2007 HP Desktop.
Do you have a link to the steps you followed to get rid of the virus?

Try going back to that LAN Settings screen, make sure everything is unchecked, except for auto detect settings, and give that a shot and see if it helps.
If you’re still having trouble take a look at the hosts file. c:\windows\system32\drivers\etc\hosts the only entry in here should be for localhost. If there is any other garbage in here consider deleting it or cut/pasting it to a separate text file if you find you need it later.

the LAB settings thing totally worked. I didn’t even think to do that since the virus kept resetting it to the default settings. Amazing, thank you!!
