How can I recover the data off my hard drive after getting a black screen of death?

Q: Can you recover your data if the black screen of death happen on your computer? My computer got a black screen of death, and I lost all my data due to the installation of new Window. Those data is really, super important to me, and I need to recover it now. Can anyone please help?

    Do you mean blue screen of death and if so are you able to see the error code?

    If you figure out the problem is the hard drive then I suggest getting a new hard drive, installing your operating system on it and getting the system running again. Then you should read Transfering Files From Dead Computer To New Computer to figure out the best way to get the data from the old hard drive onto the new one.

    If you are getting a black screen though, and not a blue one, then I would suspect the problem is with your connection to your monitor, maybe the cable is lose? The next thing would be maybe the monitor is no good or the video card.
