What is jCarousel and why do I get errors from it in IE 8?
by gradivus on December 25, 2009Q: I’ve started experiencing pop-up windows about something called jCarousel that apparently is causing infinite loops when I try to go to one of many website pages using Internet Explorer 8. I have no idea what jCarousel is. I have never knowingly installed it or anything that sounds like it. It does not appear as an installed program when I try Add/Remove Programs from my control panel. Spyware/ad ware detection programs do not find anything suspicious. It is not listed under services.msc
Does anyone know what is causing this, and how I can get rid of it (e.g., how I can uninstall this jCarousel, whatever it is)?

jCarousel is a portion of website code that this specific website you mention is using. The problem isn’t with your computer at all, it is a problem with the website you are trying to use. Either ignore the website or notify the operators of website to the problem.

I think you must be right. Searching the Internet I notice a lot of questions (but no correct answers) posted about the time Internet Explorer 8 made its debut.
Thank you.

Take a look at this: http://www.askageek.com/2008/03/10/jcarousel-plugin-causing-an-infinite-loop/
Also, give Firefox a try instead of IE 8 and see if that helps.

Yes, that response you linked to is the kind of “answer” I was referring to that leads people in all the wrong directions.
