How come the applications on my computer keep hanging?

by on January 3, 2010

Q: I had an Acer Asprie running Windows Vista and the applications on it were always stopping/hanging. I was told that I should upgrade to Windows 7 and that would solve the problem but it has not. Kodak share, Lexmark Image, DVD Fab, DVD Shrink, etc. Do I need to do a clean install with Windows 7?

I’d suggest a clean install of Windows 7, and a good anti-virus/anti-spyware program like Microsoft security essentials: http://www.microsoft.com/Security_Essentials/

Once you have the fresh install be conscious of what you install onto the PC. Try to space out the installs of these programs, doing one every few days and see how they change the performance of your computer.

Windows, regardless of the version, doesn’t just fall apart by itself, it’s all the garbage software we like to load on our PCs that slows them down and screws them up. So keep track of what you’re installing and Google around about each program to see what other people’s experiences are with the software.
