View thumbnails in a folder instead of icons

by on January 25, 2010

Q: I put some photos on my PC in my pictures folder but when I open the folder to view them I see rows of icons instead of rows of pictures. How can I make it so that I see thumbnails of the pictures instead of icons representing the files?

A: To solve this problem you need to Start -> Control Panel -> Folder Options -> View¬† and then uncheck “Always show icons, never thumbnails”. This will make it so that when you go into folders you see the thumbnail pictures instead of the icons representing the pictures.

We should note that this will require a little more processing power by your computer so depending on how new it is it might take a little bit to render the thumbnails if you have lots of them.
