Use multiple web browsers

by on January 28, 2010

Q: I have IE, FireFox, and google chrome installed on my computer. I am wondering if it is safe to uninstall IE since I never use it and the updates for it take up a lot of room on my computer with limited space.

A: Since IE is still very integrated with Windows it is usually not the best idea to remove it. My number one rule, when getting a new computer, is that you should always have at least 2 web browsers installed but 3 certainly wont hurt. The reason you need at least two web browsers is that a plug-in, update, or something else might cause one browser to stop working. If you cannot get online to download software then you could be in a situation where you have to reinstall your operating system to get things back to normal.

So while I understand that you have 3 web browsers already it is not the best idea to remove IE because it is still an integral part of Windows. You can learn more over at MozillaZine’s Remove IE article.
