Will my warranty cover a broken LED screen on a laptop caused by a drop?

by on January 30, 2010

Q: My HP60-440us laptop that I bought on 7/09 was dropped. The LED screen has significant damage and I am wondering if HP warranty cover this damage? It also has extended warranty through N.E.W. replacement plan. What are my options?

  1.

It never hurts to try and see if they will replace it but remember a warranty is to protect you against manufacturing defects. This means the manufacturer guarantees you that if the item does not do what it is supposed to and it is because of something on their end that they will fix it.

While consumers can sometimes get a manufacturer to sometimes work with them on other issues it is really a hit and miss kind of thing. In general manufacturers and extended warranty companies will not take responsibility for damage caused because of a drop.
