How come I have 50 gigs of hard drive space missing?
by candymouth on March 1, 2010Q: I just upgraded to Windows 7 Ultimate. There seems to be some missing hard disk space. My 1st partition is 30gigs and my second partition is 670gigs so that adds up to 700gigs. The problem is my hard disk is a 750 gig though. Where did those 50gigs go?

What your seeing is normal. The operating system and the manufacturer are defining how big a Gigabyte is differently.
Hard drive manufactures measure using 1000 MB per GB, but the operating system measures as 1024 MB per GB.
