    How did you resolve it?

    yes, thank you. I discovered on another site that IE8 has a new feature to reset it in situations like mine where malaware has succeeded in attacking it until it will not run. Very handy little feature, and while I personally hate IE, it saved me a lot of grief because my wife loves it and was fit to be tied when it quit working.

    I apologize. I misread your question. I thought you asked if I had solved it lol.

    Please Note:
    The following procedure will only work if you are running IE7 or later.

    The steps I used follow.

    1. Close all other programs and applications.
    2. Open control panel from start menu.
    3. Open internet options
    4 Click on the “Advanced” Tab
    5. Under “Reset Internet Explorer Settings” click “Reset…”
    6. In the dialog box that appears, make sure the box next to “Delete Personal Setting” is unchecked unless you wish to delete all of your history, favorites, accelerators, etc (details are listed in the dialog box).
    {I chose to unselect this item, and it still helped me}
    7. Click “Reset”
    8. A dialog box will appear showing the status of the reset process. When the process is completed, the “Close” button will become available. Click “Close”.
    9. Open Internet Explorer. It should function normally.
