Reset a wireless password

by on March 14, 2010

Q: I am having issues connecting new devices to my wireless network because I have forgotten the wireless password. Is there a way to reset the wireless password so I can connect new devices?

A: The easiest thing to do is to remember the password. I know you are here because you cannot remember the password but sometimes you can log into the network settings on your devices and get the password from there. This is your best option for getting the password to your wireless network.

The other option is to log into your router and change the wireless password. The key here is that we expect you will know how to log into your router. There is usually a web interface and if you are not certain what the password is then we suggest you visit RouterPasswords.com and try the default password. Once you have logged into the web interface you will have to find your wireless key. The key is most likely under under wireless and security but it will depend on your device.

If you have problems finding the exact settings then we suggest you grab the manual for your router as it should tell you where the settings are. If your router hides the key and forces you to reset the key then we want to remind you that you will have to update all devices that use your wireless network to have this new key.

We know this wont be the end of your search because all routers are different so if you have any questions please submit your question and we will do our best to help you figure out where the settings are for your router.
