Q: I have an AMD Phenom II X2 550 Callisto 3.1GHz processor and an AMD – Socket AM3 – MSI 770-C45 motherboard. Is it safe to unlock the Quad core in the processor? Will it be stable enough or will it shorten the computers lifespan?

Attempting an unlock of these cores will void the warranty on the CPU, and possibly the rest of the computer if it was purchased as a complete system. You may also totally kill the CPU in the process. It also may work just fine.

Every chip is different. So stability and lifespan will vary.

It’s a complete roll of the dice.
