Will 1MB of L2 cache make a big difference in how well a processor performs?
by CDG on April 4, 2010Q: My old computer, still under warranty, died a slow and horrible death. the company sent me a new one, and all looks the same or better except the processor. The old one is an Intel Core 2 Duo Processor T7500 (2.2GHz/800MhzFSB, 4M L2 Cache) and the new one is an Intel Core 2 Duo P8700 (2.53GHz/1068Mhz FSB/3M L2 Cache). Is it really going to make that much of a difference. What do you think?

The new processor is a lot faster overall. That 1MB less of L2 cache isn’t going to make any kind of difference.
