Click on the signal bars in the bottom right of the screen, and select your network from the list. You will be prompted for the network password. Type it in and hit okay and you’ll be on-line.

i do all of that but i dont get the prompt for network password. the network is set up thru a linksys router. the comp in question has been allowed access to the network

Check for updated wireless drivers for the Aspire
Check for updated firmware for the Linksys
Update both as needed.
Try turning off encryption and see if you can join
Then try turning it back on, try WEP, WPA and WPA2 and see what works.

I’m assuming you have other devices that can connect to your wireless network without an issue.
It looks like there might be some issues with the wireless in the acer aspire one.

Are you trying to connect directly to the wireless network using a wireless card built into your computer or are you trying to connect your computer to another computer to get on the wireless network?
