How come one computer can connect to my new netgear wireless router but not the other?
by pebo396 on April 10, 2010Q: I am running Windows Vista and just bought a new netgear wnr3500l router. One laptop running Vista linked and is running well but the other running vista finds my network but when it attempts to connect I get a message that says wireless authentication failed because of a timeout. I spoke with tech support and they said it’s a computer issue and had no solution. I never had a problem with this computer with my old belkin router and the computer works fine with a wired connection. What can I do to fix this?

Is your wireless network secured? I would recommend removing the wireless network from your vista computer and re-adding it. This will recreate the wireless “profile” for that network and allow you to enter a new key if needed. If it is unsecured then no key is needed.
