Is it possible to connect two wireless routers to one cable modem?

by on June 8, 2010

Q: Recently I bought an E3000 Linksys wireless router. I already own a Belkin N1 wireless router. How do I connect both to one cable modem? I want to have a network for the back yard porch area in the summer and might as well put my old wireless router to use.

Yes you can, you’ll just have to disable a lot of features on your old router so the two of them don’t get into a fight about who is in charge.

You’ll be plugging in your old router’s “internet” plug to one of the “computer” plugs on your new one.
