How do I stop Windows from trying to install auto updates?

by on June 15, 2010

Q: How do I stop Windows from trying to install auto updates? I have no disk space left. When I try to remove a program, a sign says I must finish installing first. Windows can’t finish theirs cause there is no space-a catch-22. What can I do?

First thing is to get some files off the drive. Try moving (to another drive) or deleting files like music, videos, images and photos that aren’t part of an installed program. This will give you some breathing room.

Once you have this done try installing “ccleaner” http://bit.ly/aECGx8 this small program is great for deleting lots of junk files on your computer.

This should give you even more breathing room

Now try uninstalling all those programs you don’t need.

Keep an eye on your main C: hard drive, you always want to keep at *least* 1GB or more of free space to keep windows running smoothly.
