What does it mean when my TV has a blue flashing power light and the screen stays black?

by on July 21, 2010

Q: I have a 42” JVC full HD television hang on the wall that is practically brand new. The TV comes on but no picture. The power light is flashing blue. Could you possibly tell me what the problem may be and how to fix it?

    Letorsha,
Have you tried to unplug the TV and wait a few minutes to plug it back in? Have you tried to change the input to your TV? Will it display the menu options or anything? How old is the TV? If it is still under warranty or still able to be warrantied I would suggest re-upping your warranty. If not I have found 2 sites that could explain the issue.

Generally this means it isn’t getting any signal and is in a sleep / power save mode.

Your manual should have details on troubleshooting, but I would suggest you double check all your cable connections and try rotating to the different inputs using either the remote or the buttons on the TV itself.

If switching to different inputs doesn’t make ANYTHING show up on the screen (not even a menu showing what Input your on) you should contact JVC for technical support. See your manual for details.
