How come my computer does not like to start up again after being shut down?

by on July 24, 2010

Q: I have a Dell Inspiron 530s running Windows Vista and it’s been drug through the mud (not physically) but its gone through my dumbest cousin. I have been able to fix it so far but now I’m stuck. Whenever I shut it down and then turn it on the next morning it just sits there and the fan runs. I want know if the BIOS needs to be fixed.

So far I have been able to fix some issues with the computer. But a few drives have broken and I need to reboot to fix them. I have to always keep on trying to get it to work and the set up never works. So please help me. IDK its not worth anything, so I’m not going to harm it if i mess it up. But I want fix it for my family.

  1.

If you haven’t done so already, the first best step for you to do is going to be a total wipe of the drive and reinstall the operating system.

For BIOS problems the best you can really do is try a BIOS reset. Check the Dell Support page for this computer for instructions on how to do that.

However, if you still can’t even get past the BIOS to start to load Windows then it’s probably time to retire the computer.
