How come my monitor gives me an out of range error message after doing a system restore?

by on July 30, 2010

Q: I did a system restore to no avail. Took to repair. Now monitor gives me Out Of Range message or No Signal message. Tried to reboot by pressing F8 to get into system to change monitor settings to attempt to fix problem. Did not work. Powered down computer. When powered back up, it beeps continuously.

Something was rattling inside the tower when we dropped it off at tech. He never fixed that, We opened up and found a square silver block loose inside. Cannot find out what that is and does it contribute to ALL these problems.

  1.

If you took the computer home from a repair and have this kind of problem then you should bring it right back to them so they can fix the problem.

The silver block, if it has a hole in it for a screw is probably a motherboard mount, probably not causing you problems.
