How come I get an error message that says Windows Live One Care is not working or has stopped?

by on August 8, 2010

Q: I get the error message “Windows Live One Care is not working or has stopped.” When I go to start the programs which they suggest, I’m getting error message 1053. The fix says to use “RegCure” but when I downloaded it the message said that it’s an executable file and that it may contact viruses. What to do, please?

Regcure is a commercial program, and what you clicked on was actually just an advertisement for it. You don’t need regcure.

What kind of anti-virus and/or anti-spyware/malware programs are currently installed on your computer?

    Also, what version of windows.

    Hi Mark,
I have AVG anti-virus and Windows Firewall programs currently installed. I have Windows Vista Home Premium version. This problem started after I had turned off my computer for a couple of days while I was out of town and then turned it back on. It’s a mystery to me???? Thanks for any help you might give me.
