Can I upgrade the CPU in my Toshiba laptop?

by on August 11, 2010

Q: I have a Toshiba l305d-s5928 with a AMD Turion 64 X2 Dual-Core Mobile Technology TL-62 CPU. I was wondering if i can upgrade this CPU,and if so what compatible CPU would there be?

It appears that there is only one processor that was made for your specific model laptop. There may be another processor that will fit in there but I can’t find any documentation on the processor handeling limits of the motherboard for that laptop. Also if you have never taken a laptop apart and do not have previous electronic technician experience I would highly recommend not to take yours apart. There are a lot of little screws and cables that can be lost or unplugged. If your looking for a little bit of a performance boost I would suggest to upgrade your memory. That usually involves taking off 2 screws on the bottom of the computer and opening a little door to pop the memory in and out.
