Can a router increase the speed of a dialup connection?

by on August 13, 2010

Q: I live in a rural area and the only ISP available to me dial-up and extremely slow. Could a router help increase the speed of service I get?

Think of your internet connection like a water pipe going to your house. Making the pipes bigger inside your house won’t make you get more water.

Your only option is to find a faster internet option. This might not be available, and may require some community action.
