How to put subtitles on mkv?

by on September 17, 2010

Q: I downloaded an mkv file called mobile suit gundam ep 1 and the only part that has subbed on it is the opening and ending. So I was wondering how to input a subtitle on a mkv file or is there a software out there that can provide a subtitle on a mkv file. Also, I can’t seem to find any .srt/.sub file to my gundam ep 1 download. Is there any subtitle websites that offer anime subtitles?

  1.

There is a good chance the subtitles are there. The credits are often subtitled directly on the video from source.

Try playing the video with VLC Media player (free) http://www.videolan.org/vlc/

With the video playing go into Video>Subtitles track on the menu bar and you should see all available subtitles there. Also check the audio part of the menu to see if any other audio tracks are available.
