How come I can see my files and folders via the save dialog box but not with explorer?

by on September 25, 2010

Q: I can see all my files and folders via open/save functions in programs and by using explorer. BUT, it’s not all displaying when I actually open it…

Here is a screen capture because a picture speaks a thousand words (and I haven’t explained well).

What can I do?

Using a WD hard-drive, and discovered the problem on my old Toshiba XP laptop… (can’t get on my good computer atm).

  1.

If you look closely at the screen shot you should see that to the right of the Explorer window you have a scroll bar. I have a feeling your items are just not “arranged” correctly.

Scroll down and see if you see the rest of your items. I am 99% sure you will. You should be able to right click and select “arrange icons” and select an option and then all the icons (folders and files) will be brought close together so you can see them all on the screen at the same time.
