If you mean to have two different operating systems running at the exact same time, the only way to accomplish that is through virtualization. You’d install your primary operating system like normal. Then you’d install http://www.virtualbox.org (free) then launch virtualbox and use the wizard for that to install your virtualized operating systems.

Since ME is a derivitive of 98 it might work with some issues, still what are you doing trying to run ME?

Just trying to save some data off the oldest computer in the house then I am going to wipe it and use Linux.

In that case all of this is a waste of your time. Just use a USB Memory stick to copy it off.
