How come I cannot play music that I used to be able to play?

Q: For some reason music I could previously play via Windows Media Player is no longer playing, instead I’m receiving a message telling me it was unable to open the file. Do you have any ideas on how to play my music without having to delete and start again? Also is Windows Media Player prone to these problems and am I better off with something else…Real Player?
