Q: My son just got a virus on his computer called Security Tool. He isn’t able to do a system restore. He still has access to the internet. What should he do?

  1.
    Picked as best answer

    1. If the PC still has internet access download either Super Anti Spyware of Malwarebytes Anti Malware.

    2. Install application and perform a full scan of the PC.

    3. Then when scan is finished if it finds an errors select to remove and reboot the PC.

    4. Then perform a second scan, if there are any other threats that appear after the main threat was removed they should also appear and be removed.

*If you find you are still receiving the popups and having problems I may be able to provide further remote support or take your laptop to a professional.

    5. If everything appears to be running ok without popups but you are still having problems browsing webpages.
    a. Open Control Panel.
    b. Open Internet Options.
    c. Select the Connections tabs at the top and then the button that says “LAN Settings”
    d. Check and see if there is an address in the proxy settings. If there is an address remove it and then click ok.
    e. Close Internet Options and Control Panel and try browsing to a website now.

If you are still having problems please let me know, I may be able to provide remote support to use some other tools.
